Toxic Environment for Business Support Staff

International exposure, nice office location in NYC, friendly co-workers and a half decent corporate cafeteria. Most of the interaction between the legal and business support is cordial within the NY office and other offices around the globe.

Cons

Horrible management teams, outsourcing work in all departments to Manila, promotion opportunities and dysfunctional IT systems and information sharing. After two rounds of layoffs and outsourcing many functional positions to Manila the skeleton business support staff is suffering from low morale and as the economy improves people are escaping in droves. Not a good place to be on the support side right now.

Pros

Global capabilities made for some very interesting situations. Lots of deals in many different areas meant you have to keep up on global activities - very interesting and exciting for someone who likes a broad view.

Cons

First firm to insitute layoffs at the end of 2008, what more need be said. Unfortunately, cost-cutting was made without much ryhme or reason and a lot of good people were let go. It's a very entreprenurial firm but that means it also has a weak central managment at the top.
