Pros

Work-life balance was a realistic expectation.

Cons

The staff was made up of caucasian women mostly, with caucasian men overrepresented in leadership positions. This probably accounts for incredibly low salaries across the board.

Thank you for your feedback, I'm disappointed to hear about your experiences; fortunately, we have an all new dedicated diversity, equity, and inclusion team working very hard to make systemic changes starting at talent acquisition through the entire organization including our rewards and benefits teams making changes to pay and benefits to reflect a more diverse population.

Pros

Colleagues are the lifeblood of this company. PTO is good. Some degree of work/life however the workload is significant for the ‘doers’.

Cons

The higher ups are disconnected from the colleagues. Too many reorganizations, layoffs, and outsourcing. Leadership from the HR area is lacking. Every year it is a scramble for evaluations but nothing much else from the group for the rest of the year. Bad behaviors are tolerated and overlooked. Career paths are laid out by management. You can stay in a role for years without advancement because managers - that is not a career.

Thanks for taking the time to leave a thorough review. I'm sorry you feel it's only a two star place! However, we couldn't agree more that the people that work at Wiley are the lifeblood of the company. It's definitely true that establishing two-way dialogues with people at all levels is an important part of developing and sustaining a positive culture. Not to mention a great way to get to know and understand the people you work with! Hopefully some of the new communication tools - like Yammer - can help encourage a greater level of connection between people from all across Wiley.

Pros

Many smart, interesting, decent people. Scholarly publishers make a difference in the world, and so it still feels rewarding. Wiley family still involved in business.

Cons

Many changes in executive leadership over past 7-8 years, and with those, many changes in direction. Public company means constant focus on quarterly results.
