Pros

Vertical integration is great. Fairly quick design realization process. Strong history as a technical leader with a strong product portfolio. Average compensation package. There are a lot of genuinely awesome people here, but they aren't the ones in management. Lower management is pretty genuine, and shares much of the same frustrations as their employees .

Cons

In the current economy, the way the company is neglecting to take care of employees doesn't bode well for an economic downturn. Negative changes to compensation, work location, and annual employee review process rolled out as "good for employees" in an intelligence-insulting manner. HR policies out of the 1980s. Significant policy changes are pushed through with little to no input from the groups affected most. Very little technical career progression potential if you aren't management-bound, and all of the career tracks are "secret". No one really knows what their job responsibilities are. Program management is virtually non-existent. Constant need to "manage up." Nearly impossible to get the management support necessary to complete assignments through the "proper channels" until a problem is allowed to grow out of control. Constantly in "firefighting" mode. Disruptive internal political infighting among facilities and groups. Bloated upper management. Retainment of technical knowledge really doesn't seem to be a priority. Upper management seems more interested in chasing pipe dream projects and future customers than focusing attention on the current customers and contracts. Some groups are overstaffed, some are very understaffed.

Pros

Good management overall. Decent benefits.

Cons

Allowed a poor manager to rule our product development group. My manager played favorites with those who drank with him after hours. Some people don't drink. I was hired to do new product development but ended up designing only test equipment.

Pros

Small private high tech company that can offer rapid advancement

Cons

A major change in company culture when the founder passed away. In my opinion; as rapidly as you can advance, you can be terminated for apparently any reason. In my opinion I was terminated for being too successful and making too much money on a commission bases. My job functions were passed to much younger employees.
