Pros

Your experience will be team-dependent so I can only speak on my team.

Cons

My partners are not very nice, they micromanage, I can't even send out an email without getting approval of same by my partners. Career progression can be easy here because everyone leaves but personally, my team's partners do not want to mentor or sponsor associates. Firm billables are 1950 which is high for insurance as insurance carriers have strict guidelines and you can't bill for everything. I would stay away if you can, once you get into insurance defense, it's hard to get out. And other attorneys don't view insurance defense attorneys as smart as they are thought to handle non complex cases. So avoid insurance defense and this firm if you can.

Pros

Absolutely none. I suppose the ability to work remotely.

Cons

Super strict timekeeping policy - all billables need to be entered and "released" within 24 hours. Incompetent and fake-mannered office manager who is unresponsive and indifferent for good measure who openly and outwardly has “favorite” employees. Doesn’t really do anything all day besides browse TikTok. Regional Managing Partner couldn’t care less about the concerns of his team. Your experience here will largely depend on the team or practice group you are assigned to, and it’s a hit-or-miss. Good luck with playing Russian Roulette and hoping you don’t land with a group of soulless jerks. Some partners and even of counsels are extremely abusive. The entire firm is far behind on technology. Absolutely no legal practice management software. IT is notoriously difficult to get a hold of, and sometimes issues aren’t even worth bringing up to attempt to be resolved. Doesn’t take care of its support staff. Unless you have a JD, your opinion won’t matter here. Very hostile, toxic, undignified, and demoralizing culture here. Attorneys are encouraged to tattle on support staff. Toxic and abusive attorneys can behave however they want without impunity.
