Pros

There are some really good lawyers here, great resources, and specialized departments.

Cons

I know several strong and intelligent Associates who regularly look for new jobs to avoid crying daily. If you are assigned to the wrong partner, your life will be a living hell. Your life outside of work has no meaning, and you will be expected to cancel even the most important events with no warning (even if they start at 8 at night and there is no court deadline at risk) based on the whim and schedule of your partner. Some partners also permit no discretion for their Associates, even those who have considerable experience. Most Associates leave within two years, and many shorter than that.

Pros

I've been working at Wilson Elser for three years now and my experience thus far has been a positive one. If you want the true experience of handling a case as a junior associate, instead of doc review, Wilson Elser is a solid decision. I have had the opportunity to work with multiple practice groups from offices around the country and have grown in the firm from this exposure. The firm supports associates who actually want to have a career here, not just a line on the resume.

Cons

Like all large firms, there is a lack of transparency. There are Associates that carry a sense of entitlement at the firm.

Pros

I am fortunate enough to work with some great personalities and a diverse group of people.

Cons

They will pay you the bare minimum, administration and policies act as if you do not have a life outside of the firm, they are not flexible, the job tasks are tedious and not what are discussed in your interview, there is little to no respect within the hierarchy of employees.
