Pros

People are friendly to work with and in right position can obtain great experience. Work-life balance is acceptable at times.

Cons

Poor benefits and the management has excessive focus on equity profits. There is little concern for human capital. Mobility is also very poor.

Pros

None. Literally none. Perhaps national name recognition?

Cons

I worked at Wilson Elser's NYC office for almost 2 years as an associate. The billable hours are intense and incessantly emphasized, despite severe under compensation. The sole measure of whether you are succeeding is your hours. This is a sweatshop with no regard for quality of work or professional development. Management is unprofessional and verbally abusive. There is no oversight for young attorneys, i.e., at times work product borders on malpractice. I did not hone any skills or increase my knowledge base. I just tread water at this dump for two years. This is not a good place to start your legal career; nor is it even a stepping stone. There is no room for growth/advancement - unless you literally sleep your way to the top. The technology is antiquated and in desperate need of a facelift. Benefits are terrible. Very high turnover rate. Many leave the practice of law after working here. I encourage those who interview or are considering accepting offer to think long and hard about holding out for other options, despite the market.

Pros

If I had say something good, you'd have to torture me to say it, because I can't think of one pro.

Cons

This place is the worst firm I've worked for in my 25+ year career in the legal field. I suppose it has a lot to do with who you work for, but the firm itself is just awful. They really don't value their staff at all. Also, their technology is behind the times with inferior software and hardware. They want to do everything on the cheap. Their macro pac had to have been written by a trained monkey because it is a joke. The features didn't work. And, the attorneys were a bunch of cry babies. I've never worked anywhere where the attorneys were so unprofessional and immature. Couldn't wait to get out of the place. If you're thinking about a job here, run, run, run as fast as you can away from this firm. You'll be glad you did.
