good benefits, good place to network - large firm

Cons

since the firm is run by ex-military personnel, senior management routinely patrols the floors to check how well each individual workspace/office is kept neat. Dress codes are enforced rigorously. Diversity is nil. If you are not a Conservative Republican, keep it to yourself. Little room for growth for staff. Bad reputation in the industry.

My employee paychecks always cleared.

Cons

Where to begin? No mentoring for us fungible associates; low pay; most partners miserable and afraid of their own shadow; managed by bullies who are not that bright; lip service to diversity since the "diverse" attorneys are all in on the joke; and no national reputation to speak of despite its size. I understand from my friends still stuck there that recent layoffs of staff and lawyers may have occurred. Given the lousy market, if you have to work there, you do what you have to do. But, it is best to get some experience and leave for better opportunities because no matter how great your work product, the partners will take credit for it. And, you will never be given opportunities to get your own clients given the firm culture. Just a very toxic environment.
