Pros

This firm stands out for the quality of colleagues you work with and clients/legal work you handle. With a range of first year lawyers to forty year veterans there is a place for everyone to thrive and a TON of work coming in. The office managing partner leads by example and literally everyone is someone you can work with, learn from and grab a drink with after work. There are also opportunities to work across practice groups or take on an challenging class action or environmental contamination suit to diversify your career and experiences. The firm encourages work-life balance and doesn't just talk the talk. The SF office has a good mix of folks who come in the office 1-5 days a week and those who are fully remote. I can honestly says it is one of the best places I have ever worked.

Cons

While most of the IT systems are top notch, the calendaring program could benefit from an overhaul.

Pros

I've worked with some great people. We have passionate and super-smart attorneys.

Cons

Unfortunately, Wilson Elser is behind in technology and processes/procedures. The firm doesn't encourage practice teams, resulting in too many hands in case files. The firm is a defender of management, not employees, and gives too much trust and freedom to OAs. There is a significant tenure gap for staff and attorneys, between under 2 years and more than 10+ years—very few in the middle.
