Pros

You can meet some great people. Great building location, lots to do during lunch or after work. Really good restaurants in the area.

Cons

Zero workplace flexibility and no work/life balance. You are expected to be in the office 8am-10pm. Upper management will openly bully talented employees just because they don't like them. No emphasis on career development.

Pros

Great benefits. Great work/life ratio. They understand if you have to leave work if your kid gets sick at school. Left alone for the most part as long as the work gets done. You are expected to do a great job and aren't hounded, which I like.

Cons

Won't promote from within unless you came over in the PNC mass hiring wave that has over taken the company. Doesn't matter how good your reviews are you will be strung along with promises of promotion and raises that never happen regardless of meeting and exceeding their benchmarks year after year.

Pros

Remote workforce, decent benefits, and good collaboration among colleagues and peers.

Cons

I absolutely would NOT recommend Wintrust Life Financial. It was the WORST new employee experience I have had - ever! If you are a minority, seasoned IT professional, and your career aspiration is to leverage your expertise and continue to grow with a company, delete Wintrust Life Financial (WLF) from your list and keep looking. I found management's language and treatment offensive, condescending, abrasive, berating, and profane. Who can course-correct or thrive in such a hostile, intimidating work environment? After my hire and over several months, my manager expressed, in no uncertain terms, that the manager wanted me off the team. I inquired about applying for another role outside of WLF. However, I was told I could not apply for another position. Shortly after that, the manager and HR said my "job role," and only my role was eliminated after five months. Therefore, I do not recommend Wintrust Life Financial as a place of employment.
