Pros

Best part of this job was my co-workers who had the same job. We always helped each other with the never ending tasks.

Cons

Little to no room for advancement, management will tell you that this job is #1 and family is second to "help the clients." In fact it is because they refuse to hire the necessary amount of employees to do the work, all while expecting you to perform a minimum of 2.5 people's jobs (which management told me in the initial interview. Most of the attorneys and paralegals are good people but will throw you under the bus at any moment because management terminates employees over the smallest mistakes, even when the mistake is correctable.

It is true that we work very hard at EW and we often times put our clients’ interests above our own. We really believe that we are responsible for taking good care of our clients when their lives are upside down through no fault of their own. I would have to admit that a balanced work life vs home life is a struggle for many of us because of these values. We have been fortunate over time to give our employees an opportunity to progress at the firm. Of course, if you are hired in as a lead paralegal on a trial team there really is no other “higher up” position (other than maybe going to law school) but we have had many employees start in entry level positions and progress through the firm. One of our best examples is a young lady who started by answering our phone four years ago and she is now the lead paralegal on a very busy and high profile trial team. Life at EW for sure is not for everyone. The hours are long and I will always hope that the good we do for others and our compensation, benefits, and bonuses are worth it for those who choose to be here with us. Sorry things didn’t work out for you here, we wish you all the best in your career.
