Pros

Compared to other similar models, there is more flex here, and I would argue a much greater avergae level of legal knowledghe, and as a result more flexibility to provide a highly commerical approach for clients. I prefer to give a high level of service, and I have in the past had to rein this in a bit, whereas with our approach to quality, I am able to produce work I am happy with. Rates of pay are above market average for similar providers. Work life balance!!! Having tried internal HR for 2 year after 11 years of employment law, and to then return, work life balance hear is much better. An "actual" hour for lunch, and an "actual" finish time. Additional work is authentically acknowlegded and compensated. Excellent PSL department resulting in great quality monthly training. Super supportive and knoweldgeable colleagues. Decent systems, approachable and friendly managers, and cross departmental synergy rather than the often "us and them" between departments I often see in business.

Cons

Labour market - not the Company's fault, but there is a labour shortage of consultants at the right level of knowledge and who have the skills to work in our format, but I feel we have an effective recruitment drive. We are growing, so there are changes, and things that would benefit from being improved, but are all part of the roadmap. Succession and talent planning routes could benefit from being revised to facilitate clearer and more logical routes, based more exclusively on vacancies and application, with the "option" to take part in some kind of development scheme.

Thank you for taking the time to share such a detailed and considered review. We’re really pleased to hear your positive reflections on the level of legal knowledge across the business, the flexibility in how you’re able to work, and the focus on delivering high-quality, commercially sound advice to clients. It’s also great to hear that you feel the work–life balance is strong and that additional effort is recognised and rewarded appropriately. We’re equally glad that you’ve found value in our learning and development offering, including the PSL-led training, as well as the support from colleagues, approachable management and the collaborative culture across teams. It’s encouraging to hear that this translates into a positive day-to-day working experience. Thank you also for your constructive observations regarding recruitment, ongoing change, and succession planning. As a growing business, we recognise that evolving structures and talent pipelines need continuous attention, and feedback like yours is valuable in helping us refine and strengthen these areas over time. We appreciate you taking the time to share your experience and your continued contribution to the business. Katie Muncaster, CPO

We appreciate your suggestion around increasing opportunities to meet as a group more often.
