Pros

I've been working at WWT for a couple years now, and truly appreciate the opportunities this company has given me. I'm continuously amazed at the culture of the company and the people that work here. The executive team does a good job of emphasizing their expectations of us, and how we are to operate internally and externally. I trust the decisions being made at the top will continue to propel the company forward for years to come. I enjoy coming to work here every day.

Cons

There's been a lot of change recently, but I believe the changes will pay off in the long run. Continue to have transparency with the teams regarding the direction of the company. This will help explain the top level direction of the company's future. I'm excited to see what the new changes to Global Order Ops roles and salaries are. Continue the progress made of cohesive communication across teams.

Thank you. Culture is the most important thing, especially with the rapid growth we've experienced. Sharing hotel rooms at some of our larger conferences is due to space limitations and we really appreciate the flexibility of our employees. I happen to like our recent branding but realize not everyone has the same taste. Thanks again and good luck.

Pros

Smart engineers, historically developed software in a truly agile/XP way.

Cons

In recent years it seems some of the best practices are slipping to keep up with large customer demands and inefficiencies. Good engineers are leaving the company rather than sacrificing their values and more and more middle management is being hired to fill gaps. There seems to be a disconnect between the sales teams and the engineers.

Thank you for the review and for being candid with your concerns. Our success over the last several years and our acquisition by World Wide Technology that has opened up so many opportunities has resulted in some rapid growth; with growth comes new challenges and therefore the need for change. While we are still committed to the mindset and practices that got us where we are, we have also seen cases where our eagerness to help our customers and provide value has resulted in moving forward with engagements that were not the best fit for us or where the customer was not quite ready for our level of speed and quality. Throughout this year we have been working on changes in the way we are organized and on ways to better define our expectations for teams and customers to better hold ourselves accountable. We’re also becoming more focused on where our true value proposition is for our customers, and on finding the right way to help them that best fits that value. We plan to have these changes in place by the end of the year, and believe that it will result in teams that are more confident in their success while still having the encouragement and tools they need to create great quality applications for our customers. It’s true that we’ve put more organizational structure in place to help us manage our growth (and to deal with comments similar to others you’ll find on Glassdoor about people feeling disconnected and directionless), but we’ve done so in a very thoughtful and intentional way that still allows teams to have the autonomy they need to get their work done with as few obstacles as possible. We’ve been able to leverage the already existing great culture and leadership guidance from World Wide Technology to help us along the way, and we’re seeing it pay dividends. We’re committed, along with our CEO Jim Kavanaugh, to “no bad managers,” and we will continue to hold our leaders to a high standard to keep our organization a great place to work.
