Pros

-Free food is amazing -Awesome opportunities like Hillary Clinton stopping by -Working on a product that is exciting -Nice facilities -Great Holiday parties and social gatherings -Lots of amazing people -Looks great on your resume (I hope)

Cons

There are far too many reorgs. Lots of XGooglers and XSalesforce who hire each other and give each other higher salaries/titles than those who have Twitter experience. I seen far too many managers who have never managed a team and should never be managing a team. Do you want a 26 yo who got the managing gig by drinking beer with their boss to be in charge of your career and growth? Promotion process is based on politics and favoritism doesn't matter how many fires you put out at 3am while your coworker is on PTO, if they're friends with the boss, you're never getting noticed. Lots of managers just refer friends to each other's team. The unlimited PTO policy really varies from mgr to mgr but basically you're probably going to feel too guilty to ever take PTO anyway. Not many women in higher/leadership positions.

Pros

The most brilliant and down to earth colleagues I've had in my career

Cons

- MANDATORY to come into the office. Even if the commute is 3 hours, they won't give you flexibility. Any WFH goes straight to Elon for approval. They check your badge log. - No free food despite having to go into the office. There are meals you can buy for $5, but they might get rid of that soon. They give you granola bars, but you even have to pay for snacks. - Random Elon requests: You have to submit monthly reviews of what you do (big-brother style) and you'll never know if it's a layoff. He'll pander you for ideas to improve the company. - Chaos: Company is bleeding talent. Teams are stretched so thin so expect to take on 3-5x the workload of an average employee. Is there a process/policy that your team follows? Throw that out the door cause Elon doesn't follow them. You'll find out about any OKRs through his Twitter feed. - Shut up and do your work: Don't question or push back, just do as you're told or you can get fired. - Promotions are rare, they don't care about career development. The goal is for you to work so hard you burn out and leave, then they just hire new people. - The attitude is that you're privileged to work for Elon, so any compensation is stocks (worthless for the foreseeable future). - Want to travel to HQ? You can stay in a meeting room on one of the floors in the building. - BRG, ERG, WLB? Consider that not applicable when you sign the offer letter.

Too slow to remove bad managers

Pros

Great place to be creative and collaborate with smart, resourceful people. Learn as much as you want about any area of the tech stack.

Cons

Negative, inexperienced managers and directors hurts morale. Good people leave out of frustration. Chaotic interview process is really unfair to interviewing candidates. I was often thrown into an interview panel with only a ten minutes notice and no resume to reference and often no idea which role the candidate was interviewing for.
