      Pros

      Great place to start a career. Engineers can have their voices heard, good ideas are not ignored. They tend to promote from within.

      Cons

      Salary and benefits are not competitive. CEO does not seem motivated to have a successful company and answers to no one except his own bank account. Privacy seems to be more important. He has no problem steering the company in tangential directions on a whim, even when all managers advise against it. He will not use latest technology or modern techniques.

      Oppressive antiquated management style and absentee owner

      Pros

      It's a job - we used to innovate and there are still pockets of brilliance in engineering staff.

      Cons

      We no longer innovate and it is against policy to speak up or suggest how to streamline or become relevant to the current marketplace. Owners and management follow 50's era thinking regarding how to motivate and management people to perform. Lots of intelligent and hard working loyal employees who are unfortunately discouraged, run down and dejected by constant barrage of inept operations personnel being allowed to run amuck. Management openly states they hate customers and it is evidence since we are not selling anything.
