Pros

The idea behind the work is very exciting. The prizes that encourage innovation are a great idea.

Cons

Management is not responsive and it's run by people who are very self focused "my way or the highway"

Pros

XPRIZE has been a great place to work and has given me some really awesome professional opportunities. Like most organizations, your experience at XPRIZE depends on the people you work with on a daily basis, and I've been lucky to have had a very strong team during my tenure. In all honesty, XPRIZE is a better place to work today than it has ever been. The current management team is strong, stable, and increasingly effective. It may not be perfect, but I wouldn't hesitate to recommend a job here to my friends (this was not always the case).

Cons

In the past, the management team was plagued by in-fighting, incompetence, and power struggles. This created significant problems all over the organization that manifested in low morale and high turnover. These issues are reflected in many of the poor reviews of XPRIZE on this site (although not all of the poor reviews are entirely fair or accurate, in my opinion). Those responsible for the worst of the issues no longer work here. XPRIZE has struggled to structure the organization to support its programs effectively. As a result, some of the business functions can be frustrating... but honestly, what workplace doesn't have some headaches?

Pros

Our purpose / mission is amazing Some of the smartest and committed people I've ever met Working remotely but quarterly meetups of all staff in LA (great balance) Execs listen to staff and management and make changes accordingly CEO Anousheh Ansari has put her life into an abundant future for all - and she means it

Cons

We have good funding, but never enough to address all the world challenges we want to. Some "old timers" at XPRIZE weren't pulling their weight. But most are gone now. Would be good to have a wider network of donors / sponsors - this seems to be a focus now
