Management is very good at saying one thing and doing another. If something goes wrong and problems occur most in management aren't afraid to let their employees take the fall. Very poor communication. Much of management is not familiar with what it is to work on software at all, expect much praise if you make things look nice but little praise if you make things work. There is no sort of process for promotions, promotion opportunities don't become available, you just have to hope you get picked.
