Pros

Working in the Parks are beautiful

Cons

They work you full time with little pay and take over half your check for room/board. You sign a policy showing the maximum of each paycheck they are allowed take for room/board, however they take out more than that and each month they ended up taking out more and more. I worked in Yellowstone at one of the campgrounds where I also lived and there were times where the campground would run out of firewood on nights when it was cold and rainy. I would give away firewood to guests when our campground was sold out, since I had plenty and Xanterra gave me a warning with NPS involved saying I was not allowed to GIVE AWAY firewood because it interfered with their sales. (Even though they had no firewood left to sell). I was also told that if I did it again that they would let me go. I quit and finished out the season at a different National Park because I was so hurt and disappointed with Xanterra inside Yellowstone.

Pros

The park itself was the best part of my job and I enjoyed every opportunity I had to experience it. I enjoy my job and my coworkers, even though we have a high turnover rate. Career opportunities are plentiful due to attrition.

Cons

The living conditions are horrendous! You pay $400+ a month to live in squalor. The life/work balance is constantly shifting. During the busy season, expect to not have much time to enjoy the park. Many visitors can show the worst qualities in humanity.

Pros

Nice place to live. The park is just so nice! Lots of exposure to wildlife. This company really misses the mark. They have a great place to offer but they treat you like complete you are nothing.

Cons

Now I had read the numerous negative reviews of this company before I came on board. At the time I thought that this company couldn't really be this bad. What a horrible mistake! Living around Lake Village was cool.....but Xanterra???...the worst company ever!!! They are just horrible people!!! Stay away!!! Maybe if you want to work at Yellowstone you might try Dellaware North, I don't know. What I do know is that you should steer clear of Xanterra. They are the absolute worst company that I ever worked for!
