Pros

Started out great but then leadership changed.... When it was NSP, the company thrived. When the merger took place to form Xcel Energy, the jerks in Colorado tried to fix something that wasn't broken.

Cons

Don't work for these jerks, they will not only suck the life out of you but your family as well. They are absolutely ruthless.

Pros

-Stable job (being a regulated utility) -Company is quite involved in the community -A (maybe the) leader in renewable energy within utilities -Generous paid time off (much more than most people I talk to) -No need to work 45 hours+ -Larimer location (main Denver office) a great building to work in (lots of windows, LEED certified) -Easy public transportation to main Denver office -Still have pension program -Seems there are lots of growth opportunities (haven't personally experienced yet though)

Cons

-Currently transitioning to a more competitive mindset, unsure what company culture will be throughout the process -No real job training programs for new employees -As a utility, very slow to adapt new IT programs, technology. Way behind similar industries -In Engineering, all engineers in MN and TX make the same as CO, which has a higher cost of living -Pay seems to be lower than maybe it should be (only from what I've heard, haven't done research) -Seems like quite a few people leave the company for higher paid jobs -Not a flexible work schedule
