Pros

Salary is alright for what you do. Offices are nice with plenty of facilities. Not much else I can think of.

Cons

Too many managers that don't have the skill to do your job but are the ones managing you and are responsible for promotions. Really need to be able to suck up to get anywhere in the company.

Pros

Really good family friendly environment. A company that cares about their employees.

Cons

Old fashion managers holds this place back being great. Can't trust your manager as they flip flop around.

Thank you for taking the time to review Xero! It sounds like you didn't have a good experience with your manager. We would have loved to know more about your specific situation to see how we might have helped. Manager capability is something we're investing in heavily, and employee feedback is very valuable to us. -Julie

Pros

Great office space, with some hugely passionate people and some great leaders in the business. The product is amazing, as are many of the staff.

Cons

Too much emphasis is put on the office environment, this does not drive a positive culture and is used as a mask to hide many of the underlying problems at Xero. The product as I said is amazing, however you cannot rely on this because the competition is following close behind, in terms of product has overtaken in a lot of cases but your brand loyalty is keeping you where you are - however this will not last forever and if you do not do something radical you will be another Sage 50 in the UK. Some of the leaders leave a lot to be desired, there is a distinct lack of professionalism and confidentiality among the team. They also take "feedback" very personally to the point you are shot down for offering constructive advice. Career development is pretty much non-existent unless you are female due to the mission of some of the staff to increase the female presence on the leadership team or unless you are one of the MDs favorites.

Thanks for taking the time to feedback on Glassdoor. You're right we have lots of feedback through Officevibe and take lots of action as a result - it really informs us as a business in terms of setting up the Working Groups, All Hands etc. Our flat structure, approachability of managers and regular pulse taking through Officevibe really helps develop the fantastic culture we have and that you've been a part of. Obviously, we can't just pay people more because an individual asks for it - we have structures and market rate benchmarking that are all part of the mix, much more than when we were smaller in the UK. However, I'm glad you have been able to discuss your thoughts with your Manager and that's a good indication of an open and effective relationship.
