      Employee's voice amidst of change

      Pros

      The people working in Xilinx are generally competent and great to work with. There are opportunities for growth as internal transfer/ rotation is widely acceptable across all departments.

      Cons

      With the recent organizational changes, employee morale is very low. The average company raise from the last round of internal review was not very impressive at all. Resources are scarce, with a extremely high emphasis in cut-costing. A lot of necessary resources/ projects do not get the budgets they reserved.

      Pros

      Work life balance. The company offers a flexible schedule which enables you to have a life outside of work.

      Cons

      If you are not in San Jose you should be prepared to get comfortable watching those in San Jose leap upwards. Additionally, the company is not as progressive as it once was. Too interested in protecting market share rather than trying something new and risky which may have a big upside benefit. Despite being the market leader we seam to be led around by the competition.

      Pros

      very valuable people - it has been a very good experience knowing so many interesting people. the campus is beautiful. education and training are provided on site for many different subject areas.

      Cons

      not much has changed over the years. the senior management said the same things consistently for 7 years straight. too many reorganizations that were done without (I think) a real benefit to the company and the employees, so it was difficult to set a career path. For software engineers, it is not the best place to work for, since the ultimate goal of the company is to sell chips.
