FAANG expectations + KY salaries

Pros

- Company gives away senior titles to everyone (a ton of "directors" and "senior managers") - You get to learn how to build a KPI system that forces your employees to compete both against their peers and their own historical performance (the system new management embraced is eerily similar to the ones used by plantation owners to get maximum productivity out of their slaves). It's based on misguided assumption that all devs are the same and interchangeable, and that managers do a perfect job breaking down ticket sizes.

Cons

- low salary - used to be relatively lax remote environment (until new management forced RTO and introduced FAANG-style quotas without adjusting anyone's salary)

Pros

As a sales leader at Xometry, I’ve had the opportunity to grow within a dynamic company in a thriving industry. During my tenure, I’ve been promoted and have readily expanded my scope, which reflects the company’s commitment to internal growth and the value placed on promoting from within. Xometry offers unparalleled opportunities for personal and professional growth, and the leadership team's focus on innovation and continuous improvement creates an exciting environment for anyone looking to make an impact. If you’re ambitious and take initiative, there is real potential to advance your career here. The offering itself—along with our competitive positioning—sets us up for long-term success. Xometry invests heavily in technology, people, and expanding market presence, and this creates a strong foundation for growth. It’s a place where motivated individuals can thrive, take on responsibility, and help drive the company forward.

Cons

That being said, like any high-growth company, there are challenges. The pressure to succeed can be intense, and there’s a constant push for more. This culture can be a double-edged sword—while it fuels high performance, it can also feel demanding at times. Additionally, our product's UX currently lags behind the tremendous value we sell, meaning success is still highly reliant on manual processes, which can be frustrating. Hyper-growth also means constant change, and adaptability is crucial. The dynamics and go-to-market strategies are often shifting, which can be both exciting and challenging. It’s important to be comfortable with change and ready to pivot as needed. Overall, Xometry offers a fantastic environment for those who thrive in fast-paced, high-pressure settings and are looking for opportunities to grow and make an impact. While there are challenges, the potential for growth, both personally and professionally, along with the opportunity to contribute to the company’s success, make it a rewarding place to be.
