Pros
Spending time with kids, ages K-5, was inspiring, and I felt privileged to take care of them - and appreciated by parents and the Y. It was really fun playing with them and sitting outside on the playground watching them be kids. If you love kids and don't want to work a lot of hours, this is a perfect job for an empty nester like me. The compensation wasn't great, but I got a lot out of the job, so that was fine. Also, I love the YWCA's mission statement of eliminating racism and empowering women. Great nonprofit.
Cons
The PA I worked alongside wasn't very engaged, so I generally watched her kids and mine. There's lots of ongoing online training which can be tedious, but necessary.
