Great front-line staff, serious problems with culture and some managers

Good benefits such as employer-paid retirement fund Lots of time off and sick time Front-line staff does a great job

Cons

Very low wages, even for nonprofits Does not really seem to support mission of empowerment Management has too much power. This means that good managers can have a great impact, but bad or abusive managers just stay. Lots of drama Lower-level employees are told that management wants their feedback, but it feels like that isn't true. If you don't agree, too bad! Not sure who you can trust They promote a culture of "the YWCA family" where people are expected to chat, share personal info, celebrate birthdays, etc, but eventually that comes to feel false when you can't trust people.
