Discriminatory work environment

Pros

I liked working with the clients in SVSS and I enjoyed my actual work duties. I liked that many of the staff there are dedicate to waht they do.

Cons

There is HUGE turnover, even in management. There was a lot of blatant discrimination (racism, sexism, ableism, LGBT discrimination) coming from many different people, including some supervisors, and the problem didn't get addressed, even after a lot of staff left over it and both HR the management acknowledged that it was a serious problem. The management is not respectful of the opinions of their staff. The facilities/offices had a lot of maintenance problems and were designed very poorly for the function they were supposed to serve. It was an awful experience to work here.

Pros

There is awesome work done in the community with the youth and the seniors. The clients are really nice people.

Cons

The YWCA has a message that states " eliminating racism and empowering woman." This is a false statement, and far from the truth. Management is unprofessional!

Pros

It's a paycheck, though you'll pay for it as the life is sucked out of you.

Cons

Culture of lying and employee disrespect at the top. Low pay. Low morale. Disrespect bordering on abusive. Constantly squeezes you to do more with less. Raises can take 5 years. Too many staff changes of really good passionate employees to lower titles and pay less. Vacations for new hires begin after one year. Expensive benefits with bad coverage. Trust, respect, and quality are something lacking in management. Roaches and bugs in kids classrooms acceptable. Culture of top taking care of itself with $100,000 salaries at expense of others. Care more about themselves than customers or staff.
