Great work environoment, chaotic management

Pros

Lots of smart people, working at scale is challenging and fun. Strong emphasis on work/life balance means work does not take over your life. Clear performance reviews and regular compensation increases make me want to stay. The perks aren't as good as google, but they are better than most. Free coffee and the SF shuttle are huge.

Cons

Unstable, annoying politics and some senior people who really seem clueless. Projects that are dead out of the gate are left running until they flameout, but small innovative ideas are not given support. "Hack" culture is promoted, but not implemented.

Pros

opportunity to learn technologies, practices that are not found at other companies. Work with some really brilliant people, true experts in their fields. Excellent knowledge base for technologies. Good facilities at campus that truly improve work-life balance.

Cons

Severe issues with cronyism and lack of true recognition. You will be able to advance your career if you are good at office politics. If you are more interested in growth through technological innovation and achievement, you will most likely be stuck doing whatever you're good at without any tangible recognition.

Pros

Yahoo! is a bleeding edge Internet company serving millions of users everyday with content. Yet, working there is still far from a very heavy media company structure and technology is very well used to make everyone's job as challenging as in a small new startup. Overall, the spirit of the company is amazing and working there is a lot of fun even given the size.

Cons

The employer brand is trashed these days and the misconception by many that Yahoo! only is a search engine often puts a lot of unnecessary pressure and PR decisions on some other products
