Pros

health care and dental are incredible, retirement is decent as a C&T and incredible as an M&P, other benefits are great. Internal training resources are fantastic and highly applicable. HR, and most departments, genuinely want to help you grow your career/have your career be with the university.

Cons

Paying for parking is outrageous even with the Yale discount, parking is limited, there is a lot of bureaucracy and politics, along with emphasis (degree depends on dept) on hierarchy - so it is not the place for everyone. Not willing to have flexible work conditions/location moving forward with the next phase of the pandemic, which is ridiculous when most jobs are doable remotely. The tuition reimbursement is essentially non-existent, this needs serious improvement. M&P's aren't supposed to work more than scheduled hours/hours in description, but most do, and expect the same of others. work-life is hard to maintain. some workaholics expecting the same of others.

Pros

The benefits can't be beat. The health insurance, paid time off, sons and daughters scholarship program, homebuyers assistance program...all stellar

Cons

The university leadership is trying to corporatize a research university. While on some level this is necessary, on a human scale it is horrible in its implementation and rationality. Bad leaders beget bad leaders... Metrics are now universally and most incorrectly used across the university for staffing decisions, facilities decisions, and lots more, leading to department and university leaders thinking they're certified statisticians. It's a horrible, toxic environment
