University as a whole is becoming corporate.

The university is very siloed between departments, and only recently have they started trying to break down walls. There isn't alot of collaboration, and there is the full gambit of departments from those that still do things like it was the 1700s thinking "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" and then other departments that try to stay on the cutting edge. I lucked out with the latter, but whenever a project involves the former, it can become a painful process to try and get anything done, if it is even possible. Human Resources isn't at all transparent and there isn't any meaningful career path or planning. Most positions it feels like your waiting for someone to die to make room further up.
