There is no work life balance. You are supposed to carry company mobile phone all the time answering texts and phone calls. 3rd shift supervisors will call you at 2am as if it’s a normal working time and expect a feedback when you are half asleep. Getting a phone call and working on a weekend is very common. The worst part is working off-shift and weekends without pay for salaried employees is considered very normal and will not receive any appreciation from manager.
Work stress will sky rocket. Their normal working time is 7am-5pm which is more compared to other manufacturing companies. They also have weekly morning production and training meetings at 6:30am and at 5am on certain weekdays. They expect Engineers to work overtime on top of that 10 hours ordeal without overtime pay. No matter what you do, the manager will low ball you all the time whereas he doesn’t meet his own expectations. Completing 8D for a customer concern is a joke. Customer will approve the 8D but manager will not. He will let it sit in his inbox for 6 months. After 6 months, he will review it with you and will expect you to remember everything which happened 6 months ago and asks for some stupid changes ignoring the fact that he wasn’t dealing with reviewing the 8D on time.
Due to stress, fellow colleagues are unhelpful and angry all the time. They always speak behind your back and backstab you. They speak ill of other people all the time. Manager will make it sound like nobody is good enough in the weekly team meeting. His priorities will change weekly but will pinpoint undone work against you ignoring the fact that you don’t have enough time to cover it all.
Lay-offs are very common and they just blame it on performance. They laid off a technician after 8 years of service. It took 8 years for YF to figure out that employee wasn’t performing well?
There is no point working for this company. You can find a better place and a better pay and be less stressful working for an another company. This place sucks.
