Pros

The core concept of the company is strong and has real potential. There are also some nice perks, like “Vibes Week”, where the team comes together for a mix of collaboration and social time

Cons

Leadership is a major challenge. The co-founders severely micromanage and struggle to delegate effectively. Employees were required to record all calls, have them reviewed for feedback (almost always critical rather then constructive), have emails closely scrutinized, send Slack summaries for every call, and frequently have leadership join calls to observe. It created an environment with very little trust, and lots of anxiety. Even when individuals are well qualified for their roles, the co-founders lacked confidence to let them do their job effectively. Favoritism also appears to influence how team members are treated and supported. Expectations around availability can be intense, with calendars often filled with back-to-back calls, leaving little time for strategic thinking or other tasks. The co-founders want you to be just as obsessed with their company as they are, and therefore do not respect a work-life balance. I was skeptical to join because I was leaving a stable role and asked what support would look like if things weren’t going well. I was explicitly told I would receive support, and a structured improvement plan if needed before any termination decisions were made. In practice, that process was not followed at all. Overall, the environment felt high-pressure and unsustainable. Despite putting in significant effort, it was difficult to feel successful or secure in the role. My mental health significantly improved the minute I left

Thank you for taking the time to write this. I'm one of the co-founders, and I want to respond personally. Reading this was hard, but important for us. The environment you experienced isn't the environment we want to create, and it wasn't fair to you. I'm sorry. You mentioned that we've stepped back from direct management since you left, and that's true. Starting roughly a year ago, we began making deliberate investments in bringing in experienced leaders across the business, specifically so that the talented people who work here have the support, autonomy, and career path they deserve. That includes more structured feedback processes, clearer performance management, and a real effort to trust our team to do the work they were hired for. Your advice on anonymous satisfaction surveys, peer feedback in reviews, and consistency in how performance conversations are handled is good advice, and a lot of it is now in motion. Feedback like yours is part of how we get there. Thank you again for sharing this. I genuinely wish your experience here had been different. -Esha Joshi, Co-founder @ Yoodli

Pros

You will never be bored and there's incredible opportunity here. This company is about to blow up. This feels like early days of a future big name. Incredibly people and in a special window where this category is on fire.

Cons

Leaders ask a lot. I've worked harder than I've ever worked but also had more fun than I've ever had at work. Leaders will ask you to do more than you can do but they've always been incredibly respectful when I've drawn my personal boundaries.

Pros

-Friendly, welcoming team -Exciting growth trajectory as a company -Enjoyable events like quarterly Vibes Week that foster good team culture -Heartfelt mission and purpose behind the company's creation -Transparent conversations about the company's progress and direction

Cons

-The co-founders are too involved in daily operations and should focus more on high-level strategy. -They struggle with effective management, frequently providing overwhelming amounts of feedback -Maintain unrealistically high expectations. -Micromanagement is a persistent problem, with expectations to record all calls, submit detailed call summaries via Slack for all meetings, and undergo frequent call monitoring. -There is an expectation for employees to match the founders' intense passion for the company, making it challenging to maintain a healthy work-life balance. -Onboarding expectations are unrealistic... you’re expected to be fully ramped up within just 2 weeks!

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback—it means a lot. We really appreciate your recognition of the positives at Yoodli, including our mission-driven culture, transparent communication, and team events like Vibes Week. It’s always encouraging to hear that the energy, camaraderie, and values we try to build into the company are coming through. We also hear you on the challenges you mentioned. Shortly after this review was posted, we brought on an experienced Head of Go-To-Market who brings deep experience in both Sales and Customer Success. As founders without formal backgrounds in those areas, it became clear that we needed someone who could lead and support these teams more effectively—while also allowing us to focus on other higher-level, strategic work. This hire is already helping us build more scalable processes, develop our team, and bring better structure to how we operate. You’re absolutely right that we can do a better job not expecting everyone to match founder-level passion. Startups are intense by nature, and while our culture is built on high performance, autonomy, and a bias for action, we’re learning that we need to pair that with more balance and support, especially around onboarding and feedback. We’re committed to improving and creating a workplace where people can thrive without burning out! Thanks for the feedback, we’re grateful!
