Pros

The best part is working with some amazing young people and their families. Many of these kids desperately need support and guidance, and working with them can be very rewarding. Hours and scheduling can be very flexible.

Cons

The job can be stressful and does not compensate well. Advocates pay for activities up front, and also must pay for gas. YAP only pays for a portion of the mileage spent while working, and allows little time for paperwork.

Pros

Impact the lives of inner city youth by exposing them to valuable resources. No limit to the activities that you could share with the youth.

Cons

No real traditional work hours. Youth were wards of the state so advocates were on call 24/7
