Pros

The international side of the business seems to fare better than their domestic logistics group... the Japanese Kaizen approach is a plus but it does not get to root problem for the domestic group.

Cons

Although Yusen ascribes to being a customer centric company, that is only rhetoric. It is very corporate centric..... more time is spent with corporate policy, processes, power assignments and reassignments than in listening to those in the field who are the eyes and the voices of the customers and carriers serving those customers... top down management with unrealistic view of the marketplace... that is why so many customers have defected along with substantial portion of the field sales and management. Much more concerned with rhetoric and posturing than in reality... egos at the corporate level growing at a much faster pace than any sales or margin levels. There are a good number of very good, hard working folks at Yusen but as of 3PL, quick turnaround, aggressive pricing, and can do attitude have to be there or the other competitors lined up will get the business in the end. Management blames personnel for problems that can only be rectified through Executive level management.

Pros

If you screw up, you can just wander off somewhere else and let someone else inherit your nightmare and the task of correcting it, accountability is ZERO. Good benefits, cheap coffee, good people to work with.

Cons

Anyone in any position of authority at this company has had a partial lobotomy. You will be asked to do ridiculous things, blamed for other people's mistakes, and pretty much interrupted for no good reason every single time you get into a groove and get a good pace going. Pay is lousy, checks are always missing hours or days or the checks just go missing altogether.

Pros

Health benefits were decent. It was also close to work and home. But that is about all.

Cons

Management tells you one thing and does another. More than that, they second-guess everything that you do as if they don't trust you. This is also one of the worst structured IT shops that I have been a part of. They are more concerned about the confusing ticketing and project systems than they are about serving people and problem-solving. Critical issues, once identified, are not responded to accordingly and escalated properly by management. No leadership at all from upper management. No one talks or communicates to each other much at all. Not the most warming and welcoming environment to work in either. It's a wonder the people who are there have stayed there.
