Avoid this one if you want to provide 1st class service with competitive rates
Pros
The international side of the business seems to fare better than their domestic logistics group... the Japanese Kaizen approach is a plus but it does not get to root problem for the domestic group.
Cons
Although Yusen ascribes to being a customer centric company, that is only rhetoric. It is very corporate centric..... more time is spent with corporate policy, processes, power assignments and reassignments than in listening to those in the field who are the eyes and the voices of the customers and carriers serving those customers... top down management with unrealistic view of the marketplace... that is why so many customers have defected along with substantial portion of the field sales and management. Much more concerned with rhetoric and posturing than in reality... egos at the corporate level growing at a much faster pace than any sales or margin levels. There are a good number of very good, hard working folks at Yusen but as of 3PL, quick turnaround, aggressive pricing, and can do attitude have to be there or the other competitors lined up will get the business in the end. Management blames personnel for problems that can only be rectified through Executive level management.
