Pros

There are no pros working in this toxic environment. Period. This company needs to be shut down. They have no business transporting anything, let alone someone's child.

Cons

1. The leadership here is delusional, simple as that. CEO, COO, and CTO- Ritu, Vivek, and Abhishek should not be running a company. They possess zero qualities of true leadership. They expect the company to be run as a sweatshop due to their shortcomings and inability to plan effectively. Let's be clear- just because you got your MBA from Stanford doesn't mean you know how to run a company, that takes work. They are so far removed from reality and entirely out of touch with their employees. All 3 siblings are highly unprofessional in every way. They lack the ability to communicate effectively, maintain professional relationships in the workplace, and have empathy for their employees and/or drivers. The investors need to reevaluate what they are doing and seriously look into reinvesting in companies such as HopSkipDrive and/or Kango. 2. CEO Ritu is no champion for women. She uses this pseudo-feminist image to push her brand but she is the furthest thing from it. Touting names like "Michelle Obama" and "Oprah" in All Hands meetings does not make you an ally, it makes you an opportunist. Ritu has no intention of uplifting women or providing them with a safe and respectful workplace. Zum is one of the most discriminatory environments towards women. As the other reviews have stated, this is a male dominated workplace where women have little say and minimum ability to implement change. 3. Favouritism runs the show- time and time again the COO Vivek blatantly states his unprofessional affection for certain employees over others. He purposefully behaves in these shocking ways in order to desensitize employees, control them via fear tactics, and normalize abhorrent behavior. It is not okay, this is not how you should treat people, let alone your own employees. 4. Safety is not a priority at Zum. It is the lowest rung on the ladder and should be concerning to all parents interested in using the app and drivers looking to sign up. Whereas, companies like HopSkipDrive have a designated team entirely tasked with managing Safety. Meanwhile Zum has yet to backfill their Safety Director position when they exited months ago. 5. Title inflation- so many qualified people were let go so unqualified people could run this company. For example, they were making temporary employees with no management experience into managers of entire teams without explanations or announcements. Leadership did this purposefully so they'd never be questioned as these novice "managers' ' didn't possess the knowledge to challenge them. 6. There is so much more I have to share but honestly tired of typing it all out as I'm currently getting flashbacks to this awful time.

Pros

Nice office and location for headquarters.

Cons

There are a lot of cons. - Promotions here only happen as a result of something negative like someone quitting/getting fired/getting laid off. - On the subject of layoffs, at least 50 people (or half of the workforce here) from engineering/product, sales, and operations have been laid off in the last few months. The company is in serious trouble financially. Shutting down, going bankrupt, that kind of trouble. - Leadership demonstrates blatant favoritism of sales and school account management. Front line operations and support just got outsourced to a call center in El Salvador. After reading all of this, one might think, "Company morale must be low." Leadership made the holiday team off site mandatory for all employees, and then HR would go around harassing and pressuring people who were not signed up. The holiday party was also mandatory for all employees, to give an impression of one big happy family. For all hands meetings, leadership decided to create propaganda videos to show to the company. The CEO is literally demanding applause from the audience. Think of a dictatorship in an authoritarian country. Zum is going down that route. As other reviews have mentioned, the CEO is totally disconnected and out of touch with what is going on. Her brother, the COO is a fool who is completely incompetent in managing the day to day business of Zum. The ship is on fire and it is sinking. Avoid this place.
