Pros

Good people are currently in the market as a result of Zebra letting go of some great talent.

Cons

Current employees waiting for who gets fired next. People receive good performance appraisals and then get fired. Company works to pretend that people are the most important assets. The phony HR happy events don't fool anyone. Most talented associates are looking for jobs elsewhere.

Pros

You won't hear many software engineers praising zebra. So really I have nothing to really positive to say about the company. But then at the same time, what software engineer in their right mind would join a manufacturing company ? Not too many. I guess if you're a mechanical engineer, things will get really interesting for you. Some of the printers involve heavy mechanics so if you are given to design them, it is worth the experience. If you're a software engineer, there is not much you can learn or do here.

Cons

Not a good place for a software engineer. As a software engineer, you will not learn any new technologies, you will not learn good coding habits, you will not even know about what design practices or good design practices are, and you will not know how to use them. Your market value as a software engineer will decrease if you work here. So, seriously consider before taking the offer. In terms of compensation, not so great either. Software engineers are among the highest paid workers in this country. Yet Zebra does not realize that and pays them as much as it does to other engineers. Not sure how things are now, but back in the days when I was there, you had to go through lot of hassle in order to get some supplies for you, these include pens, pencils, notepads. In other companies you just go get them from some cabinet. Not at Zebra, fill out the form, get it approved by your manager and you will eventually get your notepads.

Pros

The benefits are great, depending on the department you are in there are opportunities to advance. If you are an engineer, this is a great company

Cons

Most of the company is run off of excel spreadsheets. Dont be fooled by the word "technologies" in the company name. Executive management doesn't have a clue what goes on internally or in the marketplace. The are absent and detached. They do not execute strategy. Many of executive ideas come from articles they have read on a plane while on a business trip, the article may be a strategy implemented by a completely unrelated company, and without any custimization toward Zebra, they will try and impliment the article. The direction of the company changes often and flounders, 2009 the direction changed 3 times. The company has outsourced production and that has been an utter mess. The company could not deliver product to buying customers towards the end of 2009 and moving into 2010 as well.
