Pros

Great company, leadership and vision. Benefits are some of the best out there.

Cons

Unfortunately the company decided to change the whole entire sales process and it is not positive. No longer can a good salesperson build a great clientele base and call their own shots. New role can be extremely monotonous and it doesn't reward for bringing on new clientele. Hopefully things change.

Thanks for the feedback and I am sorry to hear your initial impression of your new role at Zillow hasn't been positive. To be clear, the sales process has not changed; Our value proposition to agents remains incredibly attractive. We created two roles: Sales Executive and Business Consultant and we did our best to align people with the role at which they will most likely excel and activities they've proven to do well in their time at Zillow. As you know, business Consultants have been given a large book of clients and are responsible for growing that book of business by helping real estate agents succeed. We've gotten a good amount of feedback from our business consultants that they love their new role because it allows them to focus on helping their clients as opposed to having to juggle new client acquisition along with the demands of managing a book. It certainly did require that people adapt in some ways but what we've found is that great sales people figure out how to make a new role satisfying and lucrative. We made this change a little more than a month ago so I'd encourage you to give the new role a real chance before passing final judgement. Fortunately, we have the most productive agent marketing platform in the real estate business and approximately half of our sales come from current clients buying more - we piloted this model in one region for more than 6 months before rolling it out companywide - the pilot team was the most productive in the company over this period so we feel confident we've got the right approach. Please feel free to stop by my desk or send me a meeting invite if you'd like some more guidance on how to succeed in your new role. Doug Slotkin VP, Local Ad Sales

Thanks for taking the time to review your time at Zillow. I run the Inside Sales team at Zillow and hopefully I can address your concerns for your benefit as well as others reading your review. I'm glad you took away some positives from your time at Zillow. I assume that you worked at our headquarters here in Seattle. My sense is that if you asked our team if they see themselves working in a call center, the resounding answer would be NO! With an amazing view of Puget Sound, open floor plan and delicious food provided, sales people enjoy our work environment and consistently vote for Zillow as a great place to work. We do expect people to work hard to achieve their potential and help us hit numbers. We do hold people accountable to hitting sales numbers and when struggling, we manage their activity to make sure they giving themselves a fair shot of being successful. We believe that there is a correlation between presentation volume and success, especially as you're first getting started. I was very surprised to read your comment regarding favoritism. Opportunities at Zillow are allocated based on how people perform in terms of revenue, attitude and leadership. if you have a specific example of favoritism, I would like to know about it. The same goes for sales ethics; we pride ourselves on selling the right way and customer retention on the Premier agent platform bears that out. Again, please let me know if you have specific instances of our people not acting ethically. Doug Slotkin VP, Local Ad Sales dougs@zillow.com

Thank you for the feedback. We have many examples where people started out as Associate Account Managers and progressed significantly in their career at Zillow. I am sorry this did not happen for you and I hope that you took the opportunity to discuss your concerns with your manager or HR while you were still at Zillow. Regarding your comment on sexual harassment, we take this very seriously. Please contact your HR manager or me directly – Tony Small – 206-515-8291 – tonys@zillow.com – so we can take the specific feedback and make sure it gets addressed.
