Pros

Working for Zillow offers the employee some job stability. That is all dependant on which department you work in. For eligible employees, the employee benefits are decent, at best. For someone who is looking for benefits, these are better than no benefits.

Cons

I feel, working for Zillow is a dead end job. There is very little room for growth. Again, that does depend on, who you work for, rather than ones competancy. The pay scales need to be re-evaluated. There are much better paying jobs in the same industry. The company requires long hours, not a job for someone who wants to have free time to spend with their family.

Zillow Response

Hi, Thank you for your feedback. I appreciate your candor, and I want to be able to improve Zillow based on your feedback. Unfortunately there isn't enough info in here to really help, other than that you think comp is too low. I wish I knew what group you were in, and other info that can help me evaluate and investigate this. If you want to email me anonymously, you can do it via the ZillowTalkBlog inside our intranet wiki.

Pros

Great web site, cool office space, free energy drinks and snacks. Co-workers are smart and all work hard. Free lunch on Fridays, catered in.

Cons

Management is narcissism on steroids - they made up the kool aid and drank it and shove it down everyone elses throat. The hype is all day long, lots of stupid pep rally type meetings. 10 hr days plus and encouraged, public scoffing at under achievers, You sit next to people who haven't sold anything all day yet their numbers say differently. If you can keep up hype you have a chance to do well, if you even look tired or disheartened, you are on your way out.

Pros

This is a great company that has grand vision to revolutionize the real estate industry --- an industry that is relatively later in embracing internet than others such as travel, brokerage and shopping. A great company lives for a vision, a good company lives for competition. By far Zillow is the best and most promising start-up in the great Seattle region.

Cons

There is always risk there for a start-up. There is a trade-off between the long term potential v.s. short-term reward. We are all learning how to run a successful start-up especially at the down time of the global market. The success of a start-up depends on each of its employees.
