Pros

Good Benefits. Good snacks at the corporate office. That's being generous.

Cons

Almost to many to mention. I was let go after the sales org morphed yet again. The incompetence of upper level management is only followed by the middle manager. The rentals division is a complete disaster using, turning, burning and discarding people at an alarming rate. The two guys running the division have never sold anything. They are absolutely the worst leaders I've ever seen. How spencer can sit and let them destroy the lives of so many is inexplicable. I cannot wait until Karma comes around. Seek shelter Zillow from the legal winds a brewing. Get in line people. The docket is full

We are disappointed that your experience at Zillow wasn't a success. Finding the path forward in a new business is demanding of iteration which we certainly have done in the rentals business. There have been many outstanding performances on the team and whats common to them is terrific activity volume, laser like focus on customer success and an entrepreneural approach. We are committed to enabling durable sales careers across all our teams including rentals, what's common to that is hitting numbers through a flexible and energetic approach and that formula is working well in rentals. Good luck in your next adventure. Greg (Chief Business Officer, Zillow Group)

Churn and burn tactic

Pros

Kitchen snacks and peoples reactions when you tell them you work for Zillow.

Cons

No job security. High turnover. If you miss your quota for 3 months you are fired no questions asked. Quota is $8,000 per month which is extremely difficult since majority of real estate agents have already been burned by the product you’re trying to sell. It’s an extremely difficult and expensive sale to make and very hard quota to hit. Managers play favorites and will give leads to sales executives they are close with. You are very replaceable. You think it’s going to be such a great experience when you get hired thinking you are working for one of the coolest companies out there until you realize you’re just another replaceable telemarketer. Almost every sales executive I spoke to was looking for a new job realizing they will get fired soon like the rest of them. Only about 1% of sales executives last for multiple years.

Thank you for taking the time to write your review. The Sales Executive role can be a challenging role and success within the role is performance-based. Much like any performance-based role, the Sales Executive position carries a quota designed to drive a compelling financial opportunity, allows us to evaluate our individual performances and aligns with our company goals. The continuous training, coaching, and support given by our leadership and training team are meant to support our sales professionals to maximize their professional opportunity. With “Do the Right Thing” being one of our core values at Zillow Group I am concerned about your comment around lead distribution and would welcome further conversation. Please email me at brandoni@zillowgroup.com or schedule a 1:1 if you have any more context around this or any additional feedback. You can also feel free to stop by my desk and pull me aside as well. Thanks again. Brandon Inouye Senior Director, Premier Agent Sales

Pros

Fair pay, lovely benefits, no shortage of snacks.

Cons

Management basically threatened to fire everyone over metrics that are OUT OF OUR CONTROL. Everyone in the Seattle office is FREAKING OUT. I myself have had several panic attacks over this. It baffles me how this company can treat us so different from the rest of the company. Most people got to go home early due to the unsafe snow storm that has started, but everyone in my department was told that their safety isn't their first priority. I don't know how much longer myself, or really anyone else, can take this. Upper management has created an overall feeling of anxiety and depression. Everyone is scared of being fired. Just because they can legally fire people for whatever reason doesn't mean they should use this as a scare tactic to manipulate department metrics. Bottom line: THIS IS NO WAY TO RUN A DEPARTMENT.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. Over the course of the past few months, we have begun to communicate a metrics-based success plan. Success plans are standard for ZG and all call centers because these metrics are critical to our business and our overall commitment to our North Star. We understand these metrics are new and we are interested to hear any feedback you may have about them. We strive to provide an environment where everyone feels they’re valued, treated fairly and respected. With this said your safety is our main priority, which is why we gave everyone the option to leave early during the snow storm. We are currently working on an inclement weather plan to make sure we avoid last-minute decisions in the future. I also am pleased to sit down with you to discuss any further concerns or suggestions.
