Pros

Name looks great on resume (many companies feel bad for you!) Dynamic group of people. Fun events.

Cons

Extremely low pay! You cannot survive on what they give you, thank god you get free food every once in a while. The company has been on a salary freeze for years now, so don't expect a bonus or bump anytime soon. They recently fired 30 people who make minimum, yet they kept every CEO, EVP, etc, who makes as much as 4 other employees combined? Something is wrong here. There are events that can be fun to do, however, you better enjoy drinking heavily and biking, because every outing is at a bar and they practically make you join their "optional" dumb races every year. Not everyone likes waking up at 6am on a Saturday to jog! Every Friday (I kid you not) there is a "goodbye party" at Tarpon Bend in Fort Lauderdale for the people leaving the company; The front door should be rotating. EVERY WEEK they have new hires. This place takes you, uses you and the minute you ask for a raise, they let you go because they know they can rehire at the same crap low wage. Also, be prepared for no social life outside of this place. Their motto is 24/7 and they live up to it; If they call you at 4am, you are expected to answer. Friend was once yelled at for not returning a client's email on a Sunday while he was on vacation! Heard an executive laugh because he thought it was funny he had to answer a phone call while at the doctor's getting shots? Yea, that's not humorous, that's border-line paranoia and slavery. You work overtime and do not get paid for it, they think it's perfectly ok to just pay you in pizza; Personally, I do not know how the Department of Labor has not stepped in. The only perk I can give this place is if you manage to survive a year (which is pretty much dog years) you have a great line on a resume for future careers. Get in, suck as much information as you can from this place, and get out because chances are, they will do the exact same to you.

I am sorry that your experience at Zimmerman was not one that left you fulfilled. We do know that we are a different breed of agency that is right for a different breed of team member. Our team’s dedication is, in my opinion, what sets us apart and what drives our machine. Many people are part of this family and have been a part of it for many years. I hope you found some place that fits the type of career and work environment you wanted. While reading your review, there seemed to be a few claims that are not accurate and I felt it important that we clear the air: 1. We have not fired 30 people…period. Not 30 people who make minimum. Not 30 people who make more. In fact, it is the exact opposite, we are hiring at all levels. After a record year so far of many, many new business wins, we had 61+ open positions and hosted a job fair to get even more candidates to grow the ranks. It was a great success and we have added a large group of new team members who will help drive the machine forward. 2. We know the industry is competitive on salaries and pay and we want to always see our team members grow. That is why we have instituted scheduled increases for our entry-level employees and the majority of our current team members have or will receive performance based merit increases this year, 401k matching contributions, spot bonuses and more. 3. You are right; we do plan for team outings. But none are forced and none will make anyone do something they don’t want to do. We work hard and want our teams to also play hard. From sporting events, movie screenings, team lunches and yes, even biking, our teams spend time together to bond, blow off steam and deepen relationships. No one is forced to participate in any way. The feedback we received on these programs is positive and we are looking to expand to more. 4. We have a strict policy on overtime. If someone who is non-exempt is required to work beyond the standard workweek, they are compensated. We police and adhere to that policy. 5. We are the #1 retail agency for a reason. Retail does not operate M – F…it is 7 days a week 365 days a year. That is why our senior team members are in touch with our clients and each other at all hours and days. This is part of what makes Zimmerman The Retail Machine. We are clear about that in the way we position ourselves to all perspective hires, but also strive to protect the individual and their families. Vacation and time-off policies insure they can have what they need and they are encouraged to take it. We even have a Summer Friday program that is a seldom-seen perk in Florida. I want to make sure future candidates know the real facts to make employment decisions. I am sorry that Zimmerman was not the place for you, but Zimmerman has been the chosen work home for thousands…and they continue to grow within our organization. We are constantly focused on making sure we are connected to our team members and that we are improving our benefits and work environment. We know that not everyone will find what is right for them here, but I genuinely know that we provide great opportunity for the right people.

Pros

Free soda in the lunchroom

Cons

Where do I start...all the recent reviews written were forced upon the staff by Zimmerman Executive maangement and HR to boost the glassdoor score to attract more talented people since the long term senior staff have none. You are expected to endure grueling hours, low pay and or non equal pay and foul language throughout the organization. You will be lied too and there is no room for advancement unless you are hand picked by the Chairman himself rather than for your true abilities. People are purely rude, unprofessional and you will be working with children right out of college who think this is a fashion show and not a professional work environment. Their managers do not train them because they dont know what they are doing themselves and this is why they get fed up and leave after a year, just like all their clients. If you can imagine a hostile work environment to where you are made to feel like your just another number, Zimmerman is the place for you. Don't be snake charmed by the beautiful building and "fake" fun environment. If you want to work at a World Class agency, which Zimmerman will never be as long as the people currently in place are managing it, go to BMI or Deutsch. Now those are world class, professional agencies that care alot about talented people and do everything within their power to retain them.

Lack of leadership from management. Systems training was very poor. Oppressive environment. Lots and lots of turnover.
