A very good place to build a career in Banking if you have the education as it offers a wide variety of paths.
Pros
Zions is a "collection" of regional banks, affiliate banks, and offers a wide variety of locations geographically to work at, with each bank being unique and each maintaining separate charters and corporate offices. Vectra Bank in Colorado, Nevada State Bank in Nevada, Amegy Bank in Texas, and Zions in Utah to name just a few locations. Retail & commercial banking, retail & commercial lending, treasury opperations, trust, insurance, investment banking and a strong presence in foreign exchange. At Amegy for instance has won recognition for being "a great place to work" and has positive corporate culture, mentoring and officer development. Its a very open and diverse work place and very positive. If you are young and get recruited out of college then you are in a good position for growth.
Cons
As with most financial institutions a four year degree is a must if you are looking for career advancement. They do offer a tuition reimbursement plan it you want to finish college or obtain an advanced degree, however if you are an older employee when you obtain that degree it may not make a difference in obtaining career advancement. Their benefit plan is the bear minimum in the industry however this can vary depending on the affiliate bank you work for.
