Pros

Some good folks to work with. Free lunch/dinner. Nice Location right beside the SF Bay. An interesting new endeavor in the transportation sector though the overall outlook isn't promising for the long term future.

Cons

One is treated like a disposable drone on an assemble line. Management & Leads are inexperienced and unprofessional. Training is poor and inconsistent; a new contract worker is cast aside because of the poor training. Too much unnecessary testing that does not take the place of hands on daily experience: learn by doing -- not by testing. Cliquish with no real sense of work family. Pay is okay but the turn over is high with a constant feeling of job uncertainty. Waymo as their main competitor is miles ahead of them. Not a place to hang your career hat. Not Recommended.

Pros

As the review headline says, that could be a bonus!

Cons

People who are rude, abrasive, and difficult to work with reside at the top, and they hire similar folks with limited social skills and robot-like empathy-lacking behaviors. People will throw you under the bus to save themselves, and the culture breeds this kind of toxicity. I have never faced a more strange and concerning group of individuals. I’ve witnessed yelling in meetings, bosses openly mocking staff members' performance to their teams and meetings, and using it as a punch line, and borderline witch-hunt behavior from those they are not happy with. People would regularly go to me because my manager was known for her bad attitude, and people were frankly too afraid to communicate with her. And that was seen as a normal thing to do because those are the individuals in power. Someone in a similar position lasted just a few months after they were publicly screamed out by the organization leader, and (“allegedly”) rumors swirled that they were handed a separation by HR to keep quiet. It’s also clear that they are trying to clear house as the company moves on to its next steps. You’ll mysteriously see coworkers vanish (get fired) every month or so, which is concerning for a company of this size. I have never worked anywhere like this before, and hope to never again.

Pros

Food (I heard it is gone), pay is decent.

Cons

Poor execution. Director level leaders typically are non-technical, program managers run the show - meetings, status updates, assinging wrong people to jobs. Promote young, inexperienced engineers to managerial positions so their boss is safe as he/she typically is a non-tech sleak talker. All is about looking good in meetings, talking at "high level", all seem to be good and make sense, just they are hollow. Real engineers will find themselves being asked to install a window to the wheel of a car so it can make coffee. Many many real engineers have left and the company did absolutely nothing -- it is very pretending culture. It is just about fooling around.
