Pros

-They will hire anyone with a pulse and college degree. -Free lunch (because they do not want you to be away from your desk long). -Could drink a couple of bees after 6:00 pm (would rather be home like most working professionals)

Cons

I was at alliantgroup for a little over a year and you should do all you can do avoid working with this company. I have been contacted by the IRS recently and requested to come in and interview on the practices of the firm and how they conduct their tax studies. I don’t think it takes a genius to figure out that this is not a good thing for the company long term. It is obvious by all of the five star ratings that those reviews are all internally generated from alliantgroup via their joke of an HR group. When I was there I would say only 20-30% of employees stayed with the company for at least a year, which says a lot about the environment. They say the hours are from 8:30am to 6:30pm, but if you were to try to leave at 6:30, that was looked down upon by higher-ups and your dedication was questioned. They often held “billing competitions” where employees would routinely bill over 100 to 120+ weeks when it was very obvious that these individuals were not working nearly that much, but management didn’t care because it was generating revenue. I could spend hours writing about all of the reasons you should NOT work here. Like the title of this review state, avoid this place like the plague.

Pros

You can wear comfy clothes and they cater lunch every day - but that's because they don't want you to leave. You will maybe meet some really nice coworkers. You will learn a lot.

Cons

Alright..... well........ this place is disorganized from the top and it trickles down. I worked there for 2 years and was never offered a raise. Didn't know it was standard for people to get one after a year, and by the time I did, I was looking for new jobs anyway and didn't want the hassle. They do not want you to have a life outside of work. They want you to drink the kool-aid with a forced smile. They want you to work 10-12 hours every day, and they don't care if it is a detriment to your health, family, or life in general. People will ask everything of you and will not give you the tools to get it done timely or perfectly. There is a disgusting amount of favoritism and a high school/frat atmosphere at times. The way people talk is abhorrent. It's like you can't go 2 sentences without dropping a much unneeded F bomb somewhere. The priorities are out of line. There is no punishment for reviews coming in late, so the Quality Control department suffers tremendously when Implementation is out of sync, which in my 2 year run was almost always. Alcohol is encouraged and force fed it seems to try and enchant employees into thinking the work culture and environment is a fun place. People will talk down to you and step all over you to make sure they get what they want. There were far too many days in which I went to the bathroom to cry just because of the people, the stress, and the unrealistic work expected. Didn't think that would ever happen. Didn't think I'd ever contemplate suicide either but, when you don't see another way out and your life is spiraling downward, I guess that happens too. Bottom line: Do not apply here. Do not interview here. Do not work here.

Pros

I made some great friendships

Cons

It is an absolute joke that they have won 2021 Best Place to Work - Large Company by the Houston Business Journal. There is not a shred of evidence that this is true. Look and you'll see the HBJ award page lists them as a "large company", with a total of 204 employees, yet they market themselves on LinkedIn as having over 600 active employees in the Houston office... Something tells me if they had actually interviewed the 600+ employees, they ABSOLUTELY would not have been voted first. Just another way ag manipulates and deceives. Disgusting. Speaking from experience, toxic is a major understatement. They mentally and emotionally abuse you, and make you question yourself daily. It is like an abusive relationship on steroids. It's a disgusting culture with disgusting leadership. They have completely manufactured their public facing appearance and it's so far from the truth it's laughable... and heart breaking knowing people are still being conned into working there. Bottom line: I would not recommend this company to my worst enemy and I truly can not wait for the day they implode. Fingers crossed this day comes sooner than later, for the sake of their employees AND their clients.
