Collaborative and fun...but SF HQ is closing

Pros

The people at the San Francisco HQ are great work with. It's a very collaborative and creative environment. Work-life balance is good. The benefits are decent.

Cons

The business is super complicated, which causes a lot of ambiguity and too much work with not enough resources. The brand needs to simplify it's operations. Pay also tends to be on the lower side when compared to similar jobs nearby. The most unfortunate part is that the majority of the workforce has been laid off, the SF HQ is closing, and moving to NY under Shiseido.

Pros

Awesome group to work with. Great training. Prestige brand.

Cons

Brand has you believe that their line is a fit for everyone. Corporate management changes launch dates and information constantly. Known to bring out products or release media kits before boutiques have had a chance to see them. Boutiques are often the last to know about promos or product information. Over saturated in markets.

Used to be a great company to work with

Pros

The people made this company. A vast majority (if not all) of the current product line has been developed and tested by employees in the corporate office, with heavy input from Bare's long time customers/fan base. Together, they are the heartbeat of this most unique brand in the cosmetics industry. This is the most important part to remember.

Cons

Upper management has developed a disconnection gap with its' lower tier employees over the years. Unfortunately, this was also a side effect that occurred when the company was acquired by Shiseido Americas several years ago. Only recently have they decided to embark on trying to have a more open policy with their corporate employees, but I wonder if it's a matter of "too little, too late".
