Pros

Discount, work life balance. Prompts from within.

Cons

Poor management at the corporate level led to the down fall of a cosmetic giant. Closing 100 stores and putting the people at the store level out of jobs because they couldn't stop the company from losing money. No vision of the future and sense of what's trending currently to drive business. Over saturation of a prestige brand makes it not prestigious!! Bare minerals needed a celebrity influencer years ago to keep the brand current and trending. Always reactive instead of proactive. Too little too late. No corporate accountability, always saying we're not selling enough and saying the behaviors are affecting the sales...you're traffic is down 30% to LY but some how people go into overtime every week on the payroll report. How can that be when you're not making comp I'm selling to the traffic that comes in, Calling people who don't answer, and clienteling. This isn't a store level problem.

Pros

Other co workers, costumers, getting to do makeup and helping build women's self esteem with the right custom fit products and the knowledge to use it.

Cons

Have been with the company almost a total of 3 years and worked my way up from a beauty advisor to a key holder but took me over 2 years to work my way up. Previous management liked to bring new people in for management positions instead of hiring within which they could of done because we had an amazing team of beauty advisors who most deserved it myself included. I had the opportunity to be promoted more than 3 times before I left the company due to feeling unappreciated and getting less than 8 hours a week. DO NOT expect to work more than 10 hours a week as a beauty advisor this company likes to over staff and everyone fights for hours asking each other for their shifts. Anyways after a year of working for Estée Lauder I decided to give the company another shot because they had an entire new management team.. BIG mistake. I thought for 1 being part of management meant a lot more hours but fail to exceed less than 20 hours a week which hey at almost $15 an hour didn't seem like a bad gig so I stuck with it especially since I was told come holiday I would be working closer to my max 28 hours a week as part time BUT then we hired a temp key(who is a good friend of the manager) who stole not only my hours but the beauty advisors as well so now the beauty advisors work 1 to 2 shifts max so about 4-8 hrs a week and as a key I get less than 15. Do not expect full time with this company they think because they pay you more than minimum wage you will put up with 0 benefits and give you no hours and expect you to do more work than you have enough hours in the week to work with.
