Pros

Loving the product and learning even more about it, interacting with clients who share the same passion for Bare Minerals, AWESOME discount and great under management staff. I love making people feel great about themselves and educating them on a product that I, 150%, believe in.

Cons

Upper management. Seems to be the common trend across the country with this company. Their strict rules on attendance (recently changed to no grace period.. not even a minute!) makes it impossible to love going to your job. You can't call in sick, you can't get any leeway on situations that are out of your control (car accidents, traffic, the mandatory shuttle bus ride during holidays-for malls), you can't be human. They focus so much on discipline on the small things and not enough praise or recognition for good work. Definitely favoritism is a HUGE thing with upper management. As well as lack of actual management training for those who are in the position. I was a manager of 40+ employees before going to work at the Bare Minerals boutique and the managers there can barely handle and figure out how to appropriately manage less than 10 employees.

Pros

Customers are usually pretty friendly. The products made are amazing I wouldn't wear any other brand of make-up and their skincare line is fantastic! I enjoyed the job itself. It is fun to do make-unders and hand demos. The company is defiantly growing as their products are unbeatable, I think they will be around for a very long time and more jobs will come. 50% discount plus gratis.

Cons

Management. You have to befriend the manager or you won't move up in the company. Once you are in a management position it is almost impossible to lose your job even if you get a DUI or show up to work late on multiple occasions. They say they hire from within but they don't so management has no realistic idea of what actually happens when interacting with customers. The store I worked at there were a few occasions that I did not know if I was going to be working the next day as the schedule wasn't posted yet. I wish I could have stayed but it became not worth it, I liked the job with the customers, doing make-unders were lots of fun.

Pros

The product and the customers are amazing. I enjoy training and developing the amazing people I work with. There is so much opportunity for greatness within the company, we just lack the direction to get there.

Cons

If every district , region and the company is not making sales plan, and traffic is down, why are we tearing apart our teams? The issue is bigger than the stores. We have a ralley call every week, there are not enough conference calls in the world to get us to make our numbers, Let's stop all the calls to motivate business, and start making changes, Give us better looking stores, and give us a clearer identity on what we stand for. The stores are a mess, visually. None of them look alike, and we don't look professional. We block our artistry by putting giant banners in the windows, our upper management changes every two years, we don't carry industry current colors, and we wonder why we have problems ? When the previous VP was here , we had more of a balance between work and life balance, Now, if you have an outlet for Thanksgiving, and you are a DM, be prepared to work Thanksgiving day, and black Friday. It would be great if we could be trusted to set our teams up for success and take our Holiday's off instead of getting calls and emails and not having any balance. I check my business every day, but I also trust my people to do what I have trained them to do on my days off. We cannot work 24-7 and be good for our districts. In addition, don't try to do a store visit and not be distracted by your blackberry. You need to be able to be reached by email every second of the day. Even though our RD and the whole company, has our schedule.
