Upper management is a JOKE

Pros

Great health insurance for assistant and store manager. Company eats most of the cost when insurance goes up and doesn't pass it on to employees. Decent 401k matching. Pretty good Venus structure for full time management.

Cons

They hire upper management that has no idea what they are doing because of who they know or they were dazzled by a resume. No actual work is put in to make sure who they are hiring is a good fit. It's basically a serrority where you get by on who you know and that can change at the drop of a hat. There is a lot of immaturity due to this and the DM spends a lot of time doing things like buying cars and getting her nails done when she is supposed to be visiting stores. She will also just not show up for scheduled visits and not address it unless you contact her to see if she is still coming. This is a great place to work part time as a college kid but I wouldn't put my future into this company.

Great for clients not for employees

Pros

The girlfriend experience is really a focus and products are amazing. Gratis, client service level, ability to be an artist where all pros.

Cons

The company has no idea what it means to keep the employees happy. MGRS do and fund instore contests and provide incentives without reimbursement. BAs are given 4 hour shifts 3x a week if they are lucky. There is no loyalty for tenured or even hard working GOOD managers besides getting more work and calling it "stretch assignments" There is no opportunity for growth because DM has no idea what it means to have a bench nor what grooming managers for growth looks like. Unless of course you have a pretty face. HORRIBLE DM PLACEMENT. 5 managers gone since she took over in less than 2 years?? Coincidence?. ..no. Payscale for managers is all over the place and will low ball and lie when making offers. DM does not visit unless there is an issue and then is angry because the SM couldn't just resolve the problem. GOSSIP is DMs best form of communication. Managers are to do all operations, training, scheduling, coaching etc but have the highest goals in the store. Training for keys and management varies from store to store because there is no set guide. Way to many online and QVC promos that do not align with boutique making stores seem as the most expensive place to get product . Yet, boutiques are required to promote QVC business taking sales away from our store. Product is sold EVERYWHERE it can be yet store goals are still based on numbers from when the products were exclusive.

Overall good experience

Pros

Work is pretty easy once you know your actual goals. The company truly does care about their customers and the experience provided. Monthly gratis is a plus.

Cons

Beauty advisors in Macy's should have equivalent pay as in the boutiques. Management is very disorganized and is constantly changing. Make sure you're constantly following up with your gratis otherwise you won't receive it. (Mainly the managers fault)
