Pros

ezCater is a mid-sized, high growth company which has the benefits of the culture/freedom of a smaller company with the revenue/resources of a larger company. People are genuinely nice and the culture of transparency, kindness, and pragmatism makes it a pleasure to work.

Cons

High growth means that things change in terms of roles, business, and practices. If you like a challenge, this is exciting, but it's not a boring big company.

Unlimited paid time off policy is wonderful, lunch & breakfast provided once per week, decent work/life balance.

Cons

A lot of micromanagement, which only got worse as my time there progressed. Caterer Partnerships department was underpaid and had an overly political culture. If you're looking for a job where hard work will be recognized and move you forward, look elsewhere. Turnover is very high, the work is boring and repetitive, and employees are held to standards of near perfection, and penalized when they bring issues to management. Management does not seem concerned with retaining dedicated employees, just replacing them with young college graduates with no work experience who don't know any better and that they can pay very little.

I’m sorry that your experience was poor. Thank you for the contributions that you made, and for taking the time to provide feedback. I can address a couple of specific points you made. As to market fairness: we frequently reevaluate our pay scale against market using third-party sources. In fact we just market-adjusted (up!) salaries across the board in one big department, and are finishing up a company-wide pay-fairness project just now. Regarding HR: in spring 2017 we searched, mostly locally, for a Chief People Officer; we didn’t find anyone who met our standards. In January 2018 we retained a search firm to scour the U.S. for us, and are hopeful we’ll find someone soon. Even before that person comes on board, however, we/I would welcome the opportunity to discuss your concerns directly. Please feel free reach out directly to me, or to any manager, anywhere in the company, who makes you feel comfortable. I hope there is at least one such person!
