Pros

For Over achievers, the biggest challenge in the general work force population is that your long hours over and beyond are often frowned upon by others and seen as excessive and unnecessary standards being forced on others to rise to your standard of practice or feel inferior or that you are somhow showing off, when in essence it is simply how your own personal standard of grinding; in this environment you are only really competing against yourself, Your long hours are you hours and your early and late starts are your outcomes as you directly receive what you give in this business. Your challenge is your own and the fruits of your labor are yours as well. Of course you benefit the candidate, the company, GPAC and yourself as a recruiter; but the methodology of single minded focus or lack there of, rises and falls at your own feet. Over achievers, we LOVE that kind of challenge.

Cons

One must have the ability to know how to stop, when to stop, and have some genuine structure in place to see the rewards of the movemements. There have been some searches for candidates that have totally consumed my life. Searching day and night, days, weekends, holidays...the ability to know how to shut ones self of is imperative, as there is no one, no punch clock or otherwise that tells you to stop. When I was in my probation period, and was punching a clock, there was an instance that my hours were about 30-40 hours over everyone else's.. LOL My coach and I had an agreement that he would just cut the hours to the fourty it should be. Being honest in my utilization of the tools, I was punching in all times of middle of night, on the hunt and searching for the candidates. I was glad that we could have the agreement that he could free me to work when I felt to work without issue... Eventually I did wear myself out, and had to force myself to find a better balance. I did learn to discipline myself better to STOP at a certain time and not return back to work.
