Pros

As a place of employment for someone starting out in an IT or Engineering field this company offers unique challenges. Proprietary software mixed with traditional office software packages makes for an unusual learning curve. In a large market the amount of daily work keeps an employee busy and occupied.

Cons

In a large market the responsibilities of one person can be stretched too thin. This results in work that is substandard and often poorly executed. Job duties are often not clearly defined and expectations are put on employees that lack the proper tools or training (and opportunities to train).

Pros

Great benefits and up until recent cut backs was a great place to work. After Clear Channel was bought out in June 2008 many changes started to unfold. It is well known to eveyone that we are in a recession. On Tuesday the 2oth (the inaguration of our new president) Clear Channel laid off 1850 of its employees. How sensitive they were to do it on this day!! I was one of the lucky ones that got laid off. No warnings of any kind. I was very disappointed because I loved my job.

Cons

Clear Channel was bought out in June 2008 and the stability of the company is in question as are many other businesses

Pros

The only one I can think of is if you are a very talented person who will be very well compensated. This company has little room for anyone other than the gifted. If you are a developing talent looking for the opportunity to build your skill set this company is not likely to provide you with an opportunity to grow. The policy of "right sizing" staffing means fewer people doing more work for less money. That means you will not, IF you have a job with CC, have the time to do much other than scramble from one task to the next.

Cons

The company is not run by "radio people". Radio broadcasting for public convenience and necessity is a totally foreign concept to the Mays family. They think radio exists to sell products for advertisers and make profits for shareholders. These are in fact by products of successful broadcasting, but certainly not the reasons for its existence. They have systematically and singlehandedly ruined the talent pool in the industry, chasing away the best and brightest minds and closing off opportunity for young and developing talent in small markets. CC's use of voice tracking is the primary reason why this has happened. It may take the industry the better part of a decade to recover from this debacle.
