In this second year with the organization, it’s clear to see just how ambitious and well positioned within the market iSystems continues to be. The company is dedicated to remaining an industry leader in some verticals and compete with the best of them in recently identified key verticals. They’re investing in their people in a big way. Competitive pay and benefits that continue to be evaluated and kept up to date with what it takes in the market to retain and keep attracting top talent to their Vermont headquarters. The company is heavily committed to innovation, sponsoring internal hackathons and allowing for prototyping of new solutions and rewrites of legacy applications in new technology where appropriate. This is one of those rare perfect alignments of funding and an appetite to innovate that doesn’t always come along for engineers and technology professionals. Not surprisingly, a company that specializes in delivering HR software under the umbrella of Human Capital Management (HCM) is going to be a leader in implementing those same solutions internally through software and processes. They’re committed to eating their own dogfood and creating a workplace culture that inspires, engages, and challenges its talent. In a weird way, negative reviews to this organization are a testament to how dedicated and laser focused the staff are to getting it done right, since they’re charged with delivering the same high quality and standards for a workplace through their software solutions. The iSystems mission statement and goals are literally printed across their walls, a constant reminder to all who walk their halls of what we’re all striving to achieve together. Another perk is their recent move to their new South Burlington Headquarters: great campus with lots of natural light, areas to decompress, and nearby walking trails.
Cons
Growth and dynamic work situations are not always everyone’s cup of tea. This is not the best environment for people who aren’t committed to tackling big and interesting challenges, working with complicated financial domains, or taking leadership roles. That said, there are many talented, high functioning individuals in a small company, which can sometimes lead to heads butting. At the end of the day, the organizations commitment to transparency and process will always win the day, allowing for the marketplace of ideas to compete and have the best ones rise to the top. Nonetheless, if individuals are not used to having competing voices and perspectives, typical of larger shops, this might not be ideal for them. The organization continues to professionalize all aspects of its development and operations, a task that is never truly done anywhere you go. They have high aspirations and plans in place, but as more and more areas mature, the true test will be how fast they accomplish their internally states goals and abandon some of the business as usual of yesterday.
