Pros

Access to gyms and work out classes, clothing discount, personal development materials.

Cons

Overworked for the pay rate. Sorority/cult mentality- if you don't drink the kool aid, you're an outsider. Pressured to work during off hours. Must wear company's clothing forcing a minimum of some of your paychecks to be fed back into the company's pocket. Corporate does not take true responsibility for quality of garments.

Pros

At its best, the company offered personal development to young women (and men of course) and taught valuable skills for later careers. The discount on apparel was also nice, as was the stipend for fitness classes.

Cons

Created an environment where you were at times set up to fail and had no support because of the culture of extreme personal responsibility - employees were always pushed to take responsibility and accountability while upper management and company policy never did. The scope and breadth of some of the job responsibilities for one person was at times breathtaking. In-store jobs are not friendly to those with later-stage life needs (children, solid benefits, salary that supports a stable life in San Francisco) and corporate jobs are hard to come by, even for those with the company for years and years.

Pros

Coming from an entrepreneurial background I loved that each store is run on a 'boutique' level. I was able to be involved in many different aspects of running the business such as: visual merchandising, social media (facebook), event planning, networking, designing marketing collateral, etc.

Cons

The pay is simply not enough to support yourself in NYC. The culture of the business absolutely differs from store to store and the store manager absolutely sets the tone. I was not fairly recognized or celebrated for all the hard work and time that I put into my job. It was my pleasure to work 'off the clock' because I was passionate about what I was doing and believed that I was with a company that wanted me to grow and develop. I truly believed that one day it would all work out in my favor. This did not happen.
