Don and Ruth are retired school principals, and Don is an Army Veteran. Recently, Governor Jared Polis recognized the couple for their exceptional efforts, presenting them with a commemorative US Flag flown at the Colorado State Capital Building and a signed certificate. The office received a Mayoral Citation presented by City Councilwoman Patricia Casey, who honored them for how her wife, Sheila Johnson, was cared for during her time in hospice. Mayor Paul Coogan acknowledged the team's dedication to the city and its most vulnerable residents, which Executive Director Melissa Sousa said they are proud to see being recognized.
